Rollin White's patents gave Smith a lock on the bored-through cylinder until 1872 and they made the most of it, vigorously pursuing companies that attempted to copy the design."
Actually, under the terms of the contract, Mr. White had to defend all the patent claims. Out of his own pockets. Faust got a better deal than Rollin White. That's spring-loaded, pivots at its forward edge, and operates the cylinder stop bolt, which protrudes downward from the topstrap.

When the hammer falls, a projection on the hammer nose lifts the rear flange of that leaf, raising the cylinder stop out of its notch. Thus, the cylinder is floating out of lockup for a teeny fraction before firing.

The occasional 29gr soft lead bullet, propelled by four grains of FFFFg, hitting the forcing cone a little off center probably wasn't too much cause for alarm, but a CCI Stinger would turn that thing into a pipe bomb if that happened, since the steel latch has only a few hundredths engagement in the brass frame.Tamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07285540310465422476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36483455.post-50168813600062742222009-10-14T05:54:36.253-04:002009-10-14T05:54:36.253-04:00What Og said. What Og said.Ed Fosternoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36483455.post-60790278944836200412009-10-13T23:51:02.333-04:002009-10-13T23:51:02.333-04:00That right there is total schweetness.
